    Sandpiper and Ruddy Turnstone
    Ruddy Turnstone- Arenaria interpres
Ruddy Turnstone, Arenaria interpres, Order CHARADRIIFORMES - Family SCOLOPACIDAE - Subfamily Scolopacinae. This bird was on a mud bank near the North end of Acton Lake. The picture is poor, but, I was far away and, heck, it was also a life first! This bird appears to be a juvenile. These birds spend time lifting objects such as stones and wood in search of food. Breeds along the Arctic coastline and winters as far south as the southern tip of South America.
