TROPIC and NEAR-TROPIC BIRD COLLECTION

Mid-Oct White-crowned Sparrow White-crowned Sparrow-Zonotrichia leucophrys White-Crowned Sparrow-Zonotrichia leucophrys. Birds were quite active in the early morning at the Shaker Trace Wetlands in the Miami Whitewater forest region in SW Ohio. This is the first I've seen this fall--they have returned from their breeding grounds in northern Canada. The marsh and pond were just about bone dry!
