Inflight Redhead Ducks
Redhead Ducks- Aythya americana
| Redhead Ducks- Aythya americana- Order Anseriformes-Family Anatidae-Subfamily Anatinae. Donna and I spotted this flock of Redhead Ducks near Quakertown SRA adjacent to the Dunlapsvile Causeway on Brookville Reservoir, Indiana on a beautiful Sunday in late February. From Cornell Lab "An aptly named diving duck, the Redhead can be easily identified by its bright red head and gray back. Many female Redheads make no nests of their own, but instead lay their eggs in the nests of other ducks."
